01.26.17 : Thinking too much!!!!!!!

If you are seeing this right now, i'm currently having a little mental meltdown.

Highly due to the constant change our society is going through with the decision making an individual of zero common sense is doing.

If you are unaware of what i'm talking about, click on these links:

Yes, I am normally scared to talk about politics because I tend to not have a fast response when someone refutes my opinion. The awkward silence that follows is just embarrassing to me. Then the various thoughts of the end to my life/career of being a journalist come to mind.

A whole mess of unwanted thoughts that are detrimental to my strive of becoming a successful journalist.

Another thought that is also melting the insides of my brain. The idea of not being able to succeed in a career that I really want to do.

Hopefully i'll be able to direct more of this fear in another post but i'm going to leave this post at what it is right now.

01.14.17 : Hey.

I find it quite interesting when others point out the annoying mannerisms I do.
Obviously I don't seem to catch them but that's the great thing about having close peers right?

Some ppl I love on film

A phrase/behavior that I seem to do quite often is ending an unfinished thought or question with "never mind".
It seems quite often that it's even had my partner on the urge of pulling his own hair out (or what is left of it).

As I reflect on it now, my purpose isn't to annoy anyone. It's just a habit that I can't scratch off or fling off of me. The habit is implemented in the crevices of my brain.

If it were easy as just a phone call away, trust me that phone call would have been done a long time ago.

I mean come on imagine how juicy that phone call would be:
"hey."
"yo."
"gtfo."
"nope, i'm staying here until someone explodes from annoyance"
"damn. alright. see you later then".

I mean... WOW! Us millennials really know our ways with words especially in persuading others.

Well other than that spicy phone call fore play.

We as humans of numerous capabilities can tend to fall into habits that we don't necessary notice or like.

It's hard to get rid of them.

Partner in crime
The lack of finishing my thought is a major annoyance compared to the personal lagging habits of keeping up with my blog and photography.

Not a day goes by without me thinking about posting a blog or photographing, yet I never find the motivation to do so. I either end up with writers block or intimidation.

The Garden @ The Getty

It's the fact of comparing myself to others that bleeds out the motivation out of me. I get anxiety, and fear. Emotions that have deepened lately to the point where isolation is a necessary serving aid to smooth out the ridges.

I find it quite funny how emotions play a role in someones life.

cool water @ The Getty

Come to think of it... it's rather a leading factor in someones life.

I have pushed those draining emotions to the side for the night to follow through with updating this blog as well with picking up my photography.

Well this post is sort of deep which is not where I was going for? A little out of my comfort zone to be quite honest.

I have also recently picked up photography both on my fancy camera and on disposable cameras. Something also out of my comfort zone.

Hey. I am back.

September 28, 2016 // "A whole lot of CRUDE (oil)"

45 days.
45 days of school.
45 days of waking up at 5am.
45 days of budgeting & stressing over bills/food.
45 DAYS.

Honestly it feels as if i've been in S.F for far more longer than just a month. School, work, club meetings, counseling appointments and massive amounts of reading assignments have been keeping me busy 24/7.
It isn't a bad thing of course to be busy all the time, but it's just crazy to sit down one day out of your busy week on a gray, sad looking, smelly couch (thanks gassy roommates!) & realize WOW. It has only been just a little over a month that I have done all the grown up crap.

I N S A N E.

So far, this school year has been great! I've learned more about my school & the resources that are available to me. Investigating programs/organizations that will help me thrive in pursuing a career in journalism. I find it interesting that once as I started becoming active within the school community, an intimidation for individuals (peers, professors, & counselors) started to develop in me. This intimidation did stop me from building connections with famous journalists such as Steve Dorsey, a guest speaker in my Journalism 200 class. At that moment I realized that this anxious feeling that was stopping me from reaching out to individuals was going to hold me back from even progressing in becoming a journalist.

A journalist needs to be able to communicate with people.
A journalist is for the people.
A journalist investigates & does so by reaching out to people, creating connections.

This epiphany pushed me to strive in becoming "people friendly" by getting over this nonsense intimidation that had built within me.
It's honestly "mind fucking" how sometimes individuals that hold a strong title to their name can be the most down to earth individuals.

Just the other day, I met up personally with both my advisor for the journalism department & professor for my journalism 200 class. At first glance, they both seemed very intimidating to me, especially with their doctorate degree hanging above their heads & flashy "Berkley" "Stanford" alumni merchandise.
Yet right when I started to communicate with them of my goals in becoming a journalism and obstacles that I am facing. They instantly became my personal hype group and cheerleading squad. Honestly it was heartwarming, I felt at home which is hard to feel when I am actually away from home.

The boost of enthusiasm from these mentors have pushed me to take my awareness of societal issues into far more depth.
Our information of any issue comes from any sort of medium: social media, newspapers, magazines, podcasts, radios, etc.

However do people really consider the point of view they are trying to highlight?

Whether if it's a structural or episodic view in which a story is being portrayed on a certain issue?

In other words, is the story being told through the lens of a character that most individuals can relate to? A mother figure, sibling figure, economically poor individual, etc?
or
Is it being told through no objective point of view?

The most recent story of the Dakota Pipeline is a great example to consider these factors. There isn't much information of the certain issue. It took me quite a bit of time to find recent updates of the events taking place at the work site in North Dakota. Other than the primary information of the start of all this mess, which you can read up on here.

So far, i've read up on structural views which have little to no information of the new update of the 20-23 protestors (inaccurate numbers within all the published articles) charged of various "assaults" done to the armed forces. It's rather just stating a fact, not listing the causes climaxing to the action of incarceration.
Most commonly seen within these articles is the only mention of a protestor being on horseback, illustrating a more violent prone image compared to an officer on feet. However the twist in this scenario is rather than speaking of the weapons used for threatening purposes (in this case the officer possessed) these readings choose to highlight the sole image of the protestor on the horse.

Of course the images used in mostly all of these articles were images from the protestors themselves. Giving themselves credibility for being harmless over the whole situation and trying to avoid the most possible violent exchange with the police force.

Do we trust then the non objective view for news or do we look into the different episodic news from both sides for our own evaluation of the whole situation?

Do we grasp on to more detail about the whole scenario this way?

I have yet to read more about the side of Bakken & Three Forks production on their push for the pipeline in all honesty. The main reason that I haven't lurked into this point of view in depth is because i'm exposed to the point of view of the people rather than huge corporations in conflicts through my ethnics class.

On that note.

I'm going to research more on this matter about the Dakota Access Pipeline to see far beyond the highlighted conflict media illustrates.

Until then, here are some sites/videos of these groups views on the whole situation.

August 23, 2016 // mí casa es tu casa

Hello! Hola! I am back in the foggy city!

Honestly, i'm not inspired to write a complete blogpost about anything.

Rants.

Personal update.

Informative essays.

Nada.

I believe it's this whole move from the LA area to SF again that makes me feel uninspired, especially when i'm emotionally attached to certain individuals/places back in SoCal.

Hopefully I get back into my blogging grind soon so until then.... i'll insert some photos i've taken so far.

June 1, 2016 // "Hi"

Do you ever just look through your files in your computer hard drive randomly when you are bored?

Well... I just did that for a couple of hours today since I didn't have much to do

BLARGHHHH

I mean it  was a good thing I did since I found a couple of drawings that I drew when I wasn't sober.

It's always been a thing of mine to either draw or attempt to write/type some sort of break through idea on paper/laptop in my loopy state for two reasons:

1. I want to see what I was thinking about when I wasn't sober

2. I like to laugh at myself

I also take photos of myself just to see on the scale of 1 - 10, how gone I was??? hahaha

Not going to lie i've gotten some solid profile pictures out of it and memes.

ANY WAYYSSSS

Here are a collection of drawings that I did on one non-soberish random day.

(I seem to have gone through my phone's camera roll for inspiration & found the pictures I based them off of )

November 11, 2015

I saw The Orwells for free this day & it was a legit day since I was in the mosh pit the whole night. Also Mario, the lead singer, jumped off the balcony without any limbs flying around.
My drawing obviously depicts how Mario is some godly figure for the garage rock genre & the blobs just add to the dimension of the picture.

November 5, 2015

The male figure you see is a professor I had my first semester of college. I had the biggest crush on him since he was very open about his experiences with drugs and just anything in general. He also made the subject Oceanography very interesting.
My depiction of the picture I took seems to show how open he was with the words "penis" surrounding his head and I honestly don't know why I put "banana" but then again I never shut up about bananas.

May 13, 2016

This is a photo of my BFFFFFFFF & I obviously having a great night, enjoying our "fucked up" friday for the last time. I mean there isn't much to say other than that... it was a great night. period.
My drawing seems to be very out of proportion with the arm length or maybe that's me not accepting the lanky arms I have. Although I do like the texture I gave Josselyn's hair so I shall pat my own back for that.

May 17, 2016

Wow okay. This night was actually quite painful since I got bug bites all over my face; eyelid, cheek, and bridge of nose. I was also on cloud 9 for a couple of hours so my lag on landing back to the mother land Earth made me cry in frustration. This drawing is by far my favorite because of the huge blob I drew on my cheek.

May 30, 2016 // Goodbye for now (kind of)

Well I recently just moved back home for the summer & then moved again to another city in the matter of 3 days.

Yes.. 3 DAYS OF PACKING, CLEANING, UNPACKING, AND UHAUL TRUCK DRIVING.

I'm kind of glad that we moved cities since I was done with the city that I lived throughout my elementary, middle, and high school days.

Just like Beyonce states in her song "Sorry",

 "BOY, BYE".

I mean it was cool living in LH! Growing up in a city where everyone knew about each other yet were clueless about the person as well???

If that makes any sense???????

Basically you knew most of the people but probably didn't know much about them, a 'word of mouth' type of thing.

There was also nothing really special about LH, at least to have late night excursions with ya pals.

Although same goes for the city I reside in now, it's basically LH but 10x bigger.
No 'hip' places to have excursions to :((((((((

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Win, Win? or Loss, Loss??

Honestly I think I need to start getting on the work grind !!
Maybe I wont be as bored as I am rn?????

or

I need to do the projects I've been telling myself that I would do!!!!!

GGEEEEEZZZZ LOUISSSEEEEEEE

May 23, 2016 // "End Of An Era"

2 days.

2 hours.

43 minutes.

The time I have left until I move out from the dorm where I lived in for the past school year.

The time I have until I don't see the friends/acquaintances that have been in my life for the past school year until next school year (or maybe even never).

The time I have until I can devour food at the famous "Shitty Eats" and be contaminated by the greasy smell for the remainder of the day.

The time I have to remember life events in detail that I have gone through this past year:

(in no particular order)

-first (ACTUAL) job
- spontaneous tattoo & piercing trips
- long distance relationship
- 2nd heart break
- kick back
- "Freaky Fridays"
- protest (Ayotzinapa)
- rap/R&B show
- (various) trips to a car repair shop due to careless driving
- family fights via cellphone
- mosquito bites on my face
- late night trips to the middle of no where
- vomiting in an Uber
- tourist stalkers

I want to thank everyone that were a part of my first year in college (cheesy I know) but i'm feeling very 'emo' right now and reflecting on this past year.

One thing however that I do regret is meeting people just recently towards the end of the year and taking action on my actual interests ("booming project", & picking up on photography).

Every individual has regrets even if they deny them, we push ourselves when we realize that we can do something which in most cases is pretty late in our lives.

I decided to make a playlist as well to kind of describe how my first year went as well. I love to make playlists so I took the advantage of doing so.
