October 20, 2015 // Music

I love music. There is something about the beat of a song or the lyrics of it that gives me fulfillment. It fills me with joy that brings me to my feet where I can't find anywhere else. If music was not around, life would be so bland and thats no bueno. Eww imagine going into a silent store while picking up a rad shirt. Hearing at the distance a child crying and whining giving off an unpleasant beat to your ears. No thank you!!!!

Music is a way I relate to people as well? I have met some really awesome people through similar music taste. Some even introduced me to new types of music genres.

Music is also a means to start a conversation.

"Hey do you listen to Twin Peaks?"
"No, who's Twin Peaks?"
"..... WHAT YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING?!?! LISTEN TO IRENE, BOOMERS,...."

Music is essentially a huge part of every culture, it defines the culture & creates this language that everyone can relate to that culture.

I have a couple of friends that have a different ethnic background than myself. Our friend 'group' is diverse in culture; foods, music, practices, etc. Anyways one day we were hanging out at one of our dorms and my friend Mia brought up Selena, a chicana singer in the early 90's. All 6 of us started bursting out screaming and shouting all of these songs Selena had, ranging from here ballads to her cumbias. I was blown away how one singer or band can help others relate to each other.

Therefore i'm going to list a couple songs that I have been jamming out to lately. I really want to expand my horizons of relating to individuals I have not yet gotten to.

  1. The Frights - Crust Bucket
  2. Twin Peaks - Irene
  3. Drowners - Unzip Your Harrington
  4. The Orwells - Bathroom Tile Blues
  5. Swim Deep - Heavenly Moment
  6. FIDLAR - Awkward
  7. Tame Impala - Eventually
  8. Dan Croll - One Of Us
  9. Beyoncé - Dance For You
  10. Demi Lovato - Stone Cold
